Freewheeling
Mountain biking reigns in Digne-les-Bains. The city is at the heart of the largest mountain biking area in France! With 2300km of routes spread over 1500km2, the area includes more than 100 marked mountain bike trails of all levels, from demanding and technical ones, to easier fun rides. It is no surprise that mountain bike and outdoor lovers find here an ideal playground.
Among the large number of routes, there is the mythical “Raid des Terres Noires”, “Chemin du Soleil” (which links Grenoble to Nice in stages), or the “Traversée Alpes-Provence”. By bike, the rides are many and varied: the Blayeul circuit (60km), descent of the Bès by bike (25km), or the Pic d’Oise via Thoard. This vast area is labelled by the two cycling federations: VTT-FFCT (French Cycle Touring Federation) base and FFC (French Cycling Federation) site. These labels are a recognition of the quality of services and facilities offered in Haute Provence with respect to cycling and mountain biking.
